From GERMANY/MUNICH:

Take the E45/A12 via Kiefersfelden to Kufstein
Take the second exit after the state border (Kufstein Süd). No motorway Vignette required.
From Kufstein, follow the signs for "Felbertauernstraße" B173/B312/B161 via Kitzbühel, Mittersill

Via Munich-Salzburg-Spittal-Lienz or via Innsbruck-Brenner-Lienz. There is a public bus service from Lienz to Hopfgarten in Defereggen. You can also get from Kitzbühel to Hopfgarten in Defereggen directly by bus.
